ELECTION FOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

           In response to notification email dated 13 June 2005 for the  conduct of election of the Management Committee of India Forum, the three member Election Commission constituted by the Vice Patron had received 10 applications and after due scrutiny the Commission found following 7 candidates eligible to contest the elections: 

        All India Forum members are requested to be present for the constitution of new Management Committee 2005-2006 on 24 June 2005 at 9.00 P.M. A separate email regarding the programme has already been sent.

GUIDELINES FOR ANNUAL ELECTION OF MC - IF

                The vice patron of India Forum has directed to conduct the annual election for the Executive Members of the Managing Committee of India Forum as the present Managing Committee (MC) has already completed its term. 

A three - member Election Commission has been constituted to supervise the electoral process. The Following guidelines have been formulated to conduct the said election: 

a)                A person who has been a regular member of India Forum for last two years would be considered eligible for the post of Executive Member of Managing Committee through election/nomination. 

b)               Candidates for Election / Nomination to the MC – India Forum (IF) shall not be holding key positions (President, Vice President, General Secretary & Treasurer) of leading cultural associations of Jeddah as well as membership of the Managing Committee of International Indian School, Jeddah and Saudi Indian Business Network. 

c)                All IF members who have settled their dues if any, shall be entitled to vote for electing the Executive Members of MC-India Forum. 

d)               Only SIX candidates will be elected for the MC – IF for a period of one year. The Vice Patron, IF reserves the right to extend the duration of the elected members by one more term. 

e)                Six other members will be nominated by the Vice Patron at his discretion for one year. The vice patron also reserves the right to extend the duration of nominated member or re-nominate a member for another term/terms in view of his performance. 

f)                 Apart from the elected and nominated members, the Vice Patron will nominate one female member to the Managing Committee from amongst the spouses of the IF members, who will officiate as Women’s Coordinator.   

g)                The IF members shall cast their votes in favour of three candidates of their choice from the list of candidates on ballot paper. 

h)               The ballot paper containing less than three votes will not be considered valid. 

i)                  Out of three candidates voted by a member on the electoral ballot, more than two candidates should not be from one Indian state. 

j)                 The Election to the Executive Members of MC – IF is scheduled to be held on Friday, June 24, 2005 from 20.00hrs to 21.00 hrs.  

k)                Nominations for the election can be filed from 16-19 June 2005 to the Consulate by email to indiaforum@cgijeddah.com / fax at No. 6510725 or in person. 

l)                  The scrutiny of the nominations will be done on June 20, 2005 and the final list of the eligible candidates will be announced on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 on the Consulate website/ notice board. 

m)             Names of the elected candidates will be announced on the Election day, June 24, 2005. 

n)                Names of the nominated members will be announced the next day i.e. June 25, 2005, of the announcement of the election results. 

The Vice Patron of India Forum will select the Office-bearers of the MC including President, Secretary, Programme Coordinator, Women’s Coordinator and Treasurer, from amongst the elected / nominated members of the MC - IF the next day. 

    Three sub-committees; Academic Activities, Cultural Activities and Food Committees, will also be constituted by the Vice Patron of India Forum. Each Sub-Committee consisting of three members (two general members of India Forum) will be headed by one Executive Member of MC – IF.
