Jeddah - Makkah
Travel on this sector is usually in buses which take groups of about 40.
It should be ensured that all family members board the same bus and that
all the luggage is loaded on the same bus that they travel in. It is
each pilgrim’s personal responsibility to ensure that his luggage is
not separated or put on a different bus.
The formalities at the
airport take 4-5 hours on an average. Pilgrims need to be prepared for
some delay especially when there is a large number of pilgrims arriving
during peak periods. Food packets provided by airlines can be consumed
during this waiting period. Haj is a test of tolerance and patience.
The bus journey from Jeddah
to Makkah will take nearly two to three hours and the buses will pass
through the Maktab where identity cards and yellow wrist bands will be
issued. This may take another hour. After this, pilgrims would be taken
to buildings where they are to stay. Ensuring that luggage is off
loaded at the building is the pilgrim’s personal responsibility.
The six Moassasas in Makkah
have separate colours. That of the South Asian Mossassa is yellow. The
Maktabs sign boards in Mina will be yellow. Location of camps in
Arafat will be marked by yellow pillars.
