The Consulate General of India, Jeddah maintains an
Indian Citizens Welfare Fund (ICWF) to assist the stranded and
harassed Indian workers. The purpose of the ICWF primarily is
to:
(i)
provide food expenses to Indian workers stranded on first
arrival,
(ii)
providing food expenses to Indian maids reaching the
Indian Missions after running away from their employers due to
harassment, ill-treatment etc.,
(iii)
getting the legal documents attested by the local
authorities in respect of blood money cases pending before the
local Public Courts, where necessary and only where no other
means are available,
(iv)
payment of honorarium to the occasional staff
specifically recruited for looking after the welfare of Indian
workers such as settlement of disputes with sponsors, death
compensation cases etc.
(v)
acquiring such office equipment as may be considered
necessary, for further promoting the welfare of Indian workers
mentioned above , and
(vi)
providing air passages to India to destitute
workers/housemaids in exceptionally deserving cases.
Funding of ICWF is entirely
through the generous contribution of the Community. One can
directly contribute to ICWF by depositing cheque or cash in the
ICWF A/c No. 78401200309 maintained with the Saudi Fransi Bank,
Jeddah Main Branch, Waily Al-Ahd Street, Jeddah. The community
members, who wish to contribute in cash, may do so with
Community Welfare Wing of the Consulate and obtain receipt. |
