Know India Programme (KIP) for Diaspora Youth

 

       Ministry of Oversees Indian Affairs conducts a Know India Programme (KIP) for Diaspora youth in the age group of 18 to 16 with a view to promote awareness on India. It is a three week internship programme. So far, eight such KIP have been held and the ninth one is underway.

 

2.     The programme is open to youth of Indian origin (excluding non-resident Indians) in the age group of 18-26 years as on the first day of the month in which the programme is expected to start. 

 

3.     The candidates should either be studying in the under- graduate level or should have completed under-graduation or equivalent.

 

4.     They should be able to converse in English. [They should    have studied English as a subject at the High School level or should have English as a medium of instruction for under-graduate course]

 

5.     The participants are provided the following hospitality/facilities in India:

 

(i)   local hospitality e.g. boarding/lodging in State guest houses or budget hotels,

(ii)  Internal travel as per the Programme.

(iii) Per diem allowance of Rs. 100/- for out-of-pocket expenses,

(iv) They may be granted gratis visa by Indian Missions/Posts abroad.

(v)  One way economy class international airfare from their respective country to India is reimbursable to them by Indian Missions/Posts abroad after their successful participation in the Programme.

7.     Nominations in the prescribed form are invited from  Diaspora youth for 10th KIP   by 15th October 2008. The 10th KIP is expected to commence in the third week of December this year.  The nomination forms may be downloaded from the above website   and submitted in person to the following address:
