Jeddah, for centuries, has served as an entrepot for trade and
commerce on the Arabian Peninsula. Even today, it is the hub of
business activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with several
major enterprises having their headquarters here. The Consulate
General of India, Jeddah has endeavoured to facilitate the
pursuit of Indian business interest in this dynamic environment
by providing relevant information about the business climate and
key commercial practices. While India has been a supplier of
traditional items such as rice, tea, spices to the Saudi market
for several years, increasingly there is now a shift in terms of
Indian exports with a variety of non-traditional items and value
added materials like machine tools, power generation equipment,
pharmaceuticals, ceramics and transport equipment and
information technology finding an increasing share in the trade
basket.
The
Commercial Section renders a variety of services to facilitate
business and commercial interests of Indian exporters/investors
as well as Saudi exporters/investors. It provides service on
trade enquires including information related to various business
rules and regulations to both Indian and Saudi businessmen on
various fields of interest, which helps them to decide to do
business/investment in either country. The Consulate facilitates
the settlement of trade disputes arises between two business
parties. It recommends the cases of the Saudi businessmen
interested to visit India for exploring business opportunities
to Consular Section. The Commercial Section facilitate the
visiting Indian business delegations in obtaining various
permissions/clearances from concerned Saudi authorities and
arranges their meetings with Saudi government officials, Chamber
of Commerce and individual businessman to make their visit
successful. The section also facilitates other government
departments and agencies desiring to verify the credentials of a
particular company/ organization etc. It also provides
information to Indian and Saudi Businessmen/investors on various
exhibitions, trade fairs and shows organized in both countries.
The Section publishes Commercial Bulletin (bimonthly) focusing
on various industries or commercial fields, Biznews (monthly)
providing latest information on commercial and business
developments on India.
