Visit of Saudi Business Delegation to India
(2003-2005)
The Saudi Minister of Petroleum &
Mineral Resources Engineer, Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi visited New
Delhi from 4-6 January, 2005 and participated in one-day
Minister level Round Table Conference on "Regional Cooperation:
Key to Energy Security", organized by the Ministry of Petroleum
& Natural Gas, Govt. of India in cooperation with the
International Energy Forum, Riyadh in New Delhi on January 6,
2005. The visiting Saudi Minister met Indian Ministers of
Finance and Petroleum & Natural Gas and was called on Prime
Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
The Saudi Minister of Commerce and
Industry, Mr. Hashim bin Abdullah Al- Yamani, led a high-level
delegation to India to participate in the GCC-India Industrial
Conference held at Mumbai in February 2004. In addition to his
two deputies, Mr. Abdullah Al-Hamoudi, Deputy Minister for
Foreign Trade and Mr. Saleh Al Husseini, Deputy Minister for
Industrial Affairs, the delegation consisted of chiefs of Saudi
Chambers of Commerce and Industry, namely Dr. Fahad Al-Sultan,
Secretary General of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce
and Industry; Mr. Hussein Al-Athel, Secretary General of the
Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Ibrahim Al- Olayan,
Secretary General of the Eastern province of Chamber of Commerce
and Industry; Mr. Ziad Al-Bassam, Chairman, Small Business
Development Centre of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, and Mr. Bader Al-Otaishan, Assistant Secretary General
of the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry and
other senior business leaders and officials.
Deputy Minister for Industrial
Affairs Mr. Saleh E. Al- Husseini visited India with big
business delegation in April 2003. Mr. Abdul Rahman A. Al-Jeraisy,
Chairman, Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CSCCI)
led a high level Saudi business delegation to India from 12-18
October 2003. A five member delegation of Royal Commission for
Jubail and Yanbu visited India from February 1-8 2003. H.R.H.
Prince Talal bin Abdul Aziz, President of the Arab Gulf
Programme for the United Nations Developmental Organizations (AGFUND)
visited New Delhi from 9 – 11 December 2003 to honour the
winners of the Fund’s “International Prize for Pioneering
Development Projects”. The Council of Saudi Chamber of Commerce
& Industry and other regional Chambers at Jeddah, Riyadh, Jubail
and Yanbu have organised visit of various delegations to India.
A 79 member strong Saudi business delegation led
by Mr. Abdul Rehman Al-Rasheed, Chairman of Council of Saudi
Chambers & Industry, Riyadh visited India from 24-27 January
2006 coinciding with the State visit of His Majesty King
Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud the King of Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia. The delegation held meetings with Indian businessmen and
government officials. They also participated an exhibition
organised by Uniexpoevent of Saudi Arabia on ‘Saudi Products’ at
Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
